I am Jaime Faye Torkelson, I’m an independent author of fantasy and adventure stories.
When writing, I dabble in horror, swords and sorcery, and science fiction – what I like to call Blood n’ Romance. These are my favorite genres to read.
My favorite books include Dante’s Divine Comedy, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Frank Herbert’s Dune, William Gibson’s Neuromancer (the Sprawl Trilogy), and various pulp offerings, particularly Robert Howard’s Conan the Cimmerian, and H.P. Lovecraft’s more obscure works. As a convert to Catholicism, I am a voracious reader of the Bible, daily readings make up the bulk of my devotional life.
A lot of my writing is drawn from history and philosophy. Although I have no formal training, I consider myself an amateur medievalist. I’ve read and studied hundreds of secondary and primary sources as a hobbyist. My primary area of study is 13th and 14th Century France and Italy. I am branching off into Anglo-Saxon England.
